This week, our Year 9 students took part in another inspiring session of the Set For Success Youth Leadership Programme, led by former international hockey player Charlotte Hartley.
The programme is a two-year initiative, funded by the Wimbledon Foundation and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust with support from Barclays, where students work towards a recognised qualification while developing key leadership skills.
During the session, students tackled a series of physical and team-building challenges designed to build confidence, trust, communication, and coordination.
One of the highlights was the giant rope skipping activity, where pupils started by practising individual skills before gradually working together as a team to jump in and through the rope in sync. Another challenge, “Traitors,” tested strategic thinking, and teamwork in a fun way.
It was brilliant to see the students supporting one another, offering encouragement, and working collaboratively to achieve success. Smiles, laughter, and a real sense of accomplishment were evident throughout the session, showing just how engaging and rewarding hands-on learning can be.
Charlotte Hartley worked closely with the group, offering guidance and motivation while sharing her own experiences as an international athlete. Her presence inspired students to push themselves, communicate effectively, and embrace challenges with a positive mindset.
The Set For Success programme is designed to help students develop not only practical leadership and teamwork skills but also resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility.
Over the two years, pupils will continue participating in workshops and activities like these, culminating in a recognised qualification that celebrates their achievements and personal growth.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 9 students for their enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and develop through the rest of the programme.
