Re: Ofsted Inspection, 27th – 28th February
Dear Parents & Carers,
I am writing to you to inform you of the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection.
We have now received the final report from Ofsted and I am very happy to share their findings with you.
Ofsted judged our school to be ‘Good’ in every single category and ‘Good’ overall. The details are below:
Quality of Education | Good |
Behaviour and Attitudes | Good |
Personal Development | Good |
Leadership and Management | Good |
Overall Effectiveness | Good |
We are delighted by this improved judgement which is a resounding endorsement and validation of the amazing commitment and extensive hard work undertaken by my staff team over the last two and a half years. We have always believed that we are a great school that provides a high-quality education for all our students and it is very pleasing to hear that the specific areas for development identified by the previous Ofsted team have now been comprehensively addressed.
The link to the full report is below but I would like to share some highlights with you:
“The school is ambitious for all pupils…”
“…recent changes have been managed well…”
“The ‘five respects’ underpin the sensible behaviour that pupils display in classrooms…”
“Typically, pupils behave well in lessons. They listen carefully to their teachers and act on instructions. They follow routines as they move around the school building.”
“Pupils enjoy the extensive opportunities for their wider personal development.”
“In all subjects, these changes have resulted in curriculums which are well designed and allow pupils to build their subject knowledge in a logical way. These changes have helped pupils to achieve well.”
“The school identifies the needs of pupils with SEND quickly and accurately.”
“Most pupils become confident readers over time. The school actively promotes reading for pleasure.”
“Pupils in key stage 4 spoke positively to inspectors about the quality of the support and advice they receive.”
“The arrangements for safeguarding are effective”
The inspection team have indicated two areas for further development: these relate to assessment in the classroom and further embedding the consistency of our behaviour policies during social times. We will continue to work hard every single day to bring about the changes needed and to maintain our vision to become an outstanding beacon of education for our local community.
We would also like to take the opportunity at this time to thank all those who have supported us on this journey of improvement, including our governing body, our community partners, Oldham Local Authority, our externally appointed consultants and The Cranmer Education Trust.
If you have any comments or questions relating to the inspection and its outcome, please do not hesitate to contact me.
