Student Leadership at The Radclyffe School
Key Guidance and Information For All
Mission Statement: At The Radclyffe School our aim is to develop a culture of leadership with students and teachers working together to lead and manage change. We aim to improve our students’ leadership skills through leadership programmes, strong community partnerships and through a range of leadership experiences.
Purpose
The purpose of the Student Leadership Team is to give students an opportunity to develop their leadership by organising and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to our school ethos and community welfare, the student leadership team is the voice of the student body.
Aims of the TRS Student Leadership Programme:
- To empower students to work in partnership with staff towards shared goals
- To provide opportunities for students to flourish within the school and wider community
- To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through a variety of opportunities which impact positively within school and wider community
- To ensure that every student has an opportunity to be heard
The Structure
At The Radclyffe School the structure of our leadership enables all students to apply to be part of our student leadership teams through a democratic process.
There will be two students per PLG per year who will form the Student Leadership Council.
Elections for these positions will take place each September. Prior to elections it will be clear that, if elected to be a student leader and they are in Year 11, they will be eligible to be put forward to be Head Student. This selection will be done through a general election that will take place in October. Each year, we will hold a general election and a subsequent leadership reshuffle. Student leaders will meet with their allocated council team once a half term and the whole student leadership team will meet once a term.
The student leadership councils will be:
- Charity and Community
- Health and Wellbeing
- Quality of Education
- Behaviour and Safety
- Environment
- Equality and Diversity
- Ambassador
- Student Faculty Prefects
