Requests for Leave of Absence
Dear Parent/Carer
Requests for Leave of Absence
Please be reminded of the current law regarding requests for leave of absence during the school term.
As of 1st September 2013 the law gives no entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term time. Any activity, holiday or event should be arranged during the 13 weeks of school closure. Leave of absence will have a detrimental impact on your child’s educational achievement.
If you are considering taking your child out of school, you are required to make an appointment to discuss your circumstances. Please contact the Main School Office on 0161 622 3200.
Should leave of absence be taken during term-time, parent/carers will receive a Penalty Notice from the Local Authority for taking a child out of school. Penalty Notices can cost up to £120 for each parent of each child. Oldham Council prosecute all unpaid Penalty Notices.
If you have any questions about this matter, please do not hesitate to contact the School.
Yours sincerely
Mr J Cregg
