More than two million pieces of litter are dropped in the UK every day. The cost to taxpayers for street cleaning is over £1 billion a year!
As a school, we are aware that we contribute to this problem and the school grounds need a lot of attention! Litter free school grounds help to encourage pupils respect for their learning environment which is linked to our school respects. People generally believe that clearing up litter is someone else’s job, which is why education and behaviour change are at the heart of The Radclyffe School’s campaign to tackle litter.
A group of staff and student volunteers are committed to keeping our school and the wider community tidy. This team will carry out a community litter pick of the school grounds, local access paths and surrounding areas once every half term.
The dates for our community litter picks are currently being reveived and will be published shortly.
