Dear Year 11 Students and Parents/Carers,
As you are aware, the main GCSE examinations for our Year 11 students began on Thursday 1st May. Since that date students have experienced full days in school, attending their ‘regular’ timetabled lessons when they are not sitting an exam. In a number of subject areas, there are no further exam papers to take and during these lessons students have been completing general revision activities supervised by a member of staff.
From today (Friday 6th June) onwards, Year 11 students will no longer be required to attend school full-time. From now on they are only required to attend school on the days and at the times that they have examinations. If students have exams in the morning and afternoon sessions on the same day then they will have to return home after the morning exam and return to school for the afternoon one – they will not be permitted to be on site in the interim period.
All students have been issued with a GCSE examination timetable and should arrive at school at the following times for their exams: –
Morning Session – arrive no later than 8.45am (some subjects will offer revision sessions from 8.00am)
Afternoon Session – arrive no later than 1.15pm
Students must be aware that all usual school rules apply with regard to our Five Respects and standards of uniform and behaviour for the remainder of their time in school. Any students who fail to meet our high expectations of conduct (both within school and travelling to and from school) during the whole month of June will be at risk of one or more of the following sanctions:
- Loss of Prom place
- Loss of invite to Results Day
- Loss of invite to Presentation Evening
- Fixed term exclusion, which will remain on the student’s permanent record, be shared will sixth-form colleges and could jeopardise the student’s place at their preferred college
- Permanent exclusion (as above)
We look forward to welcoming all Year 11 students back to school for their remaining examinations. It is obviously crucial that students attend all of their remaining exams and are fully aware of the dates and times of these (as outlined on their GCSE Exam Timetable and also on the whole school GCSE exam timetable available here).
If a student’s teacher/subject has arranged for a revision session to take place immediately prior to an exam, this will take place in the Dance Studio. Students must wait outside student entrance to be collected.
Students will enter school using the gate to the left of the dance studio and then make their way to their exam room, unless prior arrangements are already in place with Miss Hunt.
Students with SEND will be able to access TA support in between exams. Parents/Carers can discuss their child’s requirements by contacting either Miss Ara or Mrs Jones.
GCSE Results Day will be 9am on Thursday 21st August, results will also be emailed to student TRS email accounts from 11am.
Kind regards
Mr Cregg
Headteacher
