As we begin a new academic year and welcome our latest Year 7 cohort, we look to the example of students who have made the most of their time at The Radclyffe School.
One such student is our outgoing Head Boy, Amaar Qureshi, who not only represented the school with pride but also achieved outstanding GCSE results this summer: six Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and one Grade 7.
Amaar admitted he was taken aback when opening his results: “As soon as I opened that envelope, I was instantly blown away. I was extremely shocked by how much I have achieved… I was very, very, very proud of myself.”
“I thought I’d only get 7s or 8s – never in a million years would I have predicted six 9s! I really underestimated my own intelligence.”
Looking ahead, Amaar has secured a place at Blue Coat Sixth Form, where he will be studying Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
“They are absolutely some of the toughest A-Level courses to take together, and I couldn’t be more excited to begin this journey in a new school, with new teachers and new peers! I’ve already been revising some of the material in the summer holidays, hopefully giving me a head start.”
Alongside his academic achievements, Amaar also took great pride in his leadership role at The Radclyffe School. Reflecting on his journey, he wanted to share some advice for those just beginning theirs:
“I remember when I was in Year 7, the school felt massive while I felt small. But I learnt something that changed my perspective: exploration. By putting yourself out there, signing up to clubs, taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh programme and other activities, you not only prepare yourself for life after school but also make the most of your time here and build confidence.”
“More opportunities arise from the more opportunities you take. And most importantly, never be afraid to be afraid – especially if you’re trying something new.”
His mum summed it up perfectly: “Amaar worked really hard in his studies to achieve the excellent grades he got. He deserves these results.”
We are proud of Amaar’s achievements, both in his academic success and in the way he has served as Head Boy. His story shows our new Year 7s that with hard work, resilience and a willingness to embrace opportunities, the possibilities ahead are limitless.
Among our high achievers was Kareem Ali, who shared his reflections on his results and his plans for the future after achieving three Grade 9s, a Grade 8, four Grade 7s and one Grade 6.
Kareem said, “I feel proud of myself and my results. I am relieved all my hard work paid off. I knew I would do well, but in certain subjects I was very surprised with how well I did.”
Looking ahead, Kareem will be continuing his studies at Oldham Sixth Form College, where he will be focusing on Computer Science, Business, Statistics, and Economics.
Kareem also offered some advice to our younger students, saying:
“Make the most of your time at TRS as time will pass very quickly. Take every opportunity that is handed to you. Work hard in all subjects, even those you don’t intend to choose for your GCSE options, as this helps to maintain a high standard and good work ethic. If you are unsure of anything, do not be afraid to ask questions. Maintain as high attendance as possible; consistency is key.”
We are delighted to see our students succeed and grow, and we look forward to following the journeys and achievements of all our students in the years to come.
