We are delighted to share the exciting news of our students’ involvement in the STEM On Track competition, a national initiative aimed at inspiring young people to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through the thrilling world of motorsport.
This year, 30 students from Years 8 to 11 have enthusiastically taken part in the programme, which combines hands-on engineering, online learning and competitive kart racing. The group meets regularly at the lunchtime club to build and maintain their kart kits as part of the STEM On Track programme, which blends practical construction with extensive online STEM courses and racing experience.
On Saturday 14th June 2025, 14 of our students travelled to Whilton Mill Circuit in Northampton to compete against approximately 39 other schools from across the country. Thanks to the generous sponsorship and funding from Kajima, this opportunity was made possible, allowing our students to experience motorsport engineering at a high level.
The team’s race drivers on the day were Alicia, Lewis, Matthew, and Lillie, who overcame her anxiety and fear to take on the challenge of driving. This is a brilliant example of the personal growth this programme supports and encourages.

The core vision behind the project was to raise the profile of STEM and engineering careers especially among girls by breaking down long-standing gender stereotypes within these fields. We are proud to say this aim has been successfully achieved, with a diverse group of students actively engaged and excelling in the programme.
While the competition was fierce, Radclyffe School finished 7th out of 17 schools in the race, an impressive achievement that reflects the hard work, determination and teamwork of all involved. However, the true value of the experience lies in the skills gained, confidence built and the exciting pathways opened up to future STEM careers.
This immersive initiative gives students a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills and deepen their understanding of STEM in an engaging, real-world setting, combining classroom knowledge with hands-on application and teamwork in a competitive environment.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks once again to Kajima for their vital support in bringing this project to life. We look forward to continuing our journey in STEM On Track and encouraging even more students to get involved.
