The Radclyffe School was alive with energy and excitement as we opened our doors to prospective students and their families for our recent Open Evening. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase everything that makes TRS such a vibrant and welcoming community, and we were delighted to see so many visitors joining us to experience school life first-hand.
From the moment families stepped through the doors, the atmosphere was buzzing. Each department had prepared something special, offering a lively glimpse into the subjects and opportunities available at TRS. English hosted a lively game of Book Bingo, while History took visitors back in time with a 500-year-old Tudor soup recipe. In Science, rocket launches and dramatic experiments captured imaginations, while Maths became a hive of number challenges and even a few friendly chess battles.
Our practical subjects were just as engaging. Food Preparation and Nutrition offered hands-on activities, Art and Drama encouraged creativity and performance, and PE ensured visitors had the chance to get active with interactive matches, badminton challenges against our Year 10s, and even indoor rock climbing. Music filled the building with performances from our talented students, while the library was busy with families making bookmarks to take home.
At the heart of the evening were our outstanding Student Ambassadors. From welcoming families and guiding tours to supporting activities in classrooms, their warmth, confidence and enthusiasm shone through. Visitors were able to hear directly from our students about their experiences, and it was clear to see just how proud they are of their school.
The highlight of the evening was the series of inspiring talks delivered by our Head Teacher, Mr Cregg, alongside our Deputy Head, future Year 7 Year Managers, and our Head Students in Year 11. Their words gave families a clear sense of our vision, values, and the many opportunities that await new students joining TRS.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible effort of our staff, who went above and beyond in preparing displays, live experiments, and interactive activities. Their creativity and dedication brought each subject to life, making the evening an unforgettable experience for everyone who attended.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us, to our staff for their hard work, and to our students for being such excellent role models. The evening captured everything that makes The Radclyffe School a special place to learn, grow and thrive – and we cannot wait to welcome our new Year 7s in September.
