Last week, our Year 10 students took part in their highly anticipated Work Experience Week, a unique opportunity designed to bridge the gap between education and the world of work. With a wide range of placements and an engaging in-house programme, our students gained valuable insights and hands-on experience to help prepare them for their future pathways.
A number of students ventured out into the world of work, taking up placements across the region in pharmacies, garages, opticians, sports centres, community centres, supermarkets, offices, and retail parks – and that’s just to name a few. These placements gave our students a taste of real working environments, encouraging them to develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, punctuality, and problem-solving.
For students who remained in school, our in-house programme offered a rich and diverse timetable of activities. Sessions focused on building personal and professional skills, including writing personal statements, exploring different career routes, and taking part in social action workshops. These workshops empowered students to think critically about the issues that matter to them, such as knife crime, access to sports facilities, and transport in their communities.
We were delighted to receive glowing feedback from many of the organisations and businesses who hosted our students:
“Your students were a credit to the school, and their engagement in all our activities was truly brilliant. While some started a little hesitantly, they responded to our team and produced some fantastic work by the end of each session. We were particularly impressed by their passion during the social action session. It was clear they’re genuinely interested in improving their community.” – Youth Leaders, June 2025
“A fantastic week of work experience from Teagan. It was a pleasure to have her and whatever she decides to do she has a bright future ahead! We would not think twice about inviting Teagan back again.” – Middleton Car and Commercial, June 2025
“Amaan was punctual, well-mannered and very keen to learn. Due to the work ethic and commitment he has shown, we have offered him future work.”
“Baraka is a very bright and energetic individual. She showed willingness to learn and completed tasks given to her. Baraka showed good communication skills and a strong understanding of the role.” – Manchester Inventory Services, June 2025
“Gana has been a lovely addition to the team this week. She has been polite, friendly, and willing to get involved in a variety of activities. It has been lovely to have her with us.” – Lighthouse Project, June 2025
“It has been a pleasure having Raihanah join us at ASTML. Throughout her time she has demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm, professionalism, and initiative beyond her years.” – Oldham GTA Ltd, June 2025
These comments reflect not only the enthusiasm and commitment of our students, but also the value of this experience in helping them explore potential careers and develop confidence in new settings.
We are extremely proud of how our students conducted themselves during Work Experience Week. Whether out on placement or participating in our in-house activities, they embraced every opportunity with maturity and curiosity. This experience will serve as a valuable foundation as they begin to plan their futures.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the businesses, organisations, and facilitators who supported our students during this important week. Your time and mentorship made a real difference.
The Radclyffe School remains committed to preparing our young people for life beyond the classroom, and Work Experience Week 2025 was a shining example of just that.
