{gspeech}Dear Parent / Carer,
In October of last year we conducted a survey of our students and asked them a wide range of questions about their school experience.
One of the questions asked related to how students travel to and from school. Your child indicated that they often travel to school in a car and are dropped off and/or collected on Hunt Lane.
You will be aware that the school has significant issues with traffic congestion on Hunt Lane and we are constantly looking at ways to reduce this. One strategy is our promotion of a ‘5 minute walking bubble’ around the school: in other words, asking parent/carer car drivers to drop off and collect children away from Hunt Lane and allow their children to walk the remaining 5 minutes of the journey to and from school.
I am writing to you today to ask you to support this initiative. Rather than parking on Hunt Lane, please drop off and collect your child on a different road that is at least a 5 minute walk away and encourage your child to walk along Hunt Lane. School staff are on duty on Hunt Lane before and after school each day to supervise our students and support them to walk safely.
Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. If you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Mr Cregg
Headteacher
