At The Radclyffe School, we strive to give our students exciting opportunities to explore their futures, and Year 9 Industry Day was no exception! It was an busy day full of hands-on experiences with industry professionals, colleges, and employers, helping students discover a world of possibilities.
Students had the opportunity to explore potential future careers by testing real medical equipment with Medical Mavericks, learning how virtual reality is used to train professionals like surgeons with Nova VR, and even trying out VR technology with a game of Fruit Ninja.
They also took part in some hands on learning about aquaponics, setting up a small system and planting seeds that will grow right here at school. Creativity took centre stage too, with an inspiring session from Oliver Sykes on book publishing and an entrepreneurial challenge with Brandin It. They even enjoyed drumming with Beat Goes On, led by a musician who’s worked with members of The Beatles!
Colleges, including Oldham Sixth Form College, Manchester College, and Oldham College, were on hand to chat about post-16 options, from A-Levels to apprenticeships. Dream Big Sports got students thinking about careers in sports coaching, while Kier Facility Managers introduced them to exciting opportunities in construction and facilities management.
It was a brilliant day filled with new experiences, fresh ideas, and plenty of inspiration for the future. A huge thanks to all the businesses and education providers that made it possible to provide our students with these experiences, and we can’t wait to see where they take them.
