Students from The Radclyffe School have achieved national recognition after winning the prestigious Best Build Award at the STEM on Track National Finals on Saturday.
Competing against more than 100 schools from across the country, our students were recognised for the exceptional quality, engineering, craftsmanship and attention to detail demonstrated in the design and construction of their racing karts.
The achievement marks the culmination of an eight-month journey involving more than 30 students from Years 9 and 10, who have dedicated countless hours to designing, building, testing and racing two karts through a series of regional events leading to the national final.
The competition itself provided plenty of drama. Both Radclyffe karts took to the track in the second of four races, but an early incident saw the Apex Radclyffe kart forced out of the race on lap three.
Faced with this challenge, the team quickly adapted their strategy to ensure all eight drivers still had the opportunity to compete. Students worked together brilliantly throughout the remainder of the race, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and professionalism in the face of adversity.
While the racing presented challenges, the judges were highly impressed by the standard of the students’ engineering work, awarding The Radclyffe School the Best Build Award from a field of more than 100 competing schools.
The success reflects the commitment and determination shown by students throughout the project, as well as the support of staff, parents, sponsors and partners who have contributed to the programme over the past year.
The students represented the school superbly throughout the national finals, acting as outstanding ambassadors and embodying the values of teamwork, perseverance and ambition.
Special thanks go to staff members Mr Brown, Mr Armitage and Mr Shakir for their support throughout the project, alongside the many colleagues, parents and external partners who helped make this opportunity possible.
Everyone at The Radclyffe School is incredibly proud of the students’ achievements and the way they represented our school on the national stage.
Congratulations to all students involved in STEM on Track this year on an outstanding achievement.
