We are incredibly proud of Year 8 Ammar and Year 10 Sama, who recently achieved fantastic success at the National Kyorugi Championship, held at the National Cycling Centre.
Competing in their respective age categories, both students performed brilliantly against some of the best young taekwondo athletes from across the country. Sama produced an outstanding performance to take home gold, while Ammar also enjoyed a fantastic competition, securing silver.
Kyorugi is the competitive sparring discipline of taekwondo, requiring athletes to demonstrate a combination of skill, speed, technique and tactical awareness. Competing at national level is a significant achievement and requires considerable commitment both inside and outside of competition.
The National Championships are a special moment in the British Taekwondo calendar, bringing together athletes, coaches, clubs, families, officials and supporters from across the country. For Ammar and Sama to come away with medals is a fantastic accomplishment and a testament to the time, effort and dedication they have invested in their sport.
Their success is something to be particularly proud of, as they continue to balance their sporting commitments alongside life at school. Competing at this level also requires confidence, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure, all of which both students demonstrated throughout the competition.
A huge congratulations to Ammar and Sama on this outstanding achievement. We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to following their progress as they continue to develop their skills and compete at the highest levels of their sport.
