Dear Parents and Carers,
I can confirm that the school has received notification from the NEU trade union that its members will take industrial strike action on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. This action relates to a national dispute over pay.
A significant number of staff within our school are members of this union and therefore the school will be affected by the industrial action.
We have conducted a thorough risk assessment and based upon the number of teaching staff we expect to be in school on those days, we will not be able to offer our usual, in-school lessons to all year groups. The arrangements for those days are outlined below.
Arrangements for Thursday 27th April
| Year Group | Arrangements for 27th April |
| Year 11 | Attend school as normal |
| Year 10 | Attend school as normal* |
| Year 9 | Online Learning |
| Year 8 | Online Learning |
| Year 7 | Online Learning |
| All students with an EHCP | Attend school as normal |
| All Looked After Children | Attend school as normal |
*Please note that Year 10 students must attend school in person on Thursday 27th April in order to complete some essential ‘Pre-Public Exams’. This is a change to the previous arrangements for strike days.
The timetable for Year 10 exams on Thursday 27th April is: –
| Thursday 27th April Only | ||
| Year 10 Exam | Time | Students |

Year 10 students who do not study Computer Science will be dismissed at 12.30pm to return home (Café Mojo will be open at this time if they wish to purchase lunch): these students will complete online learning during period 5 (1.50 – 2.50pm).
Please note that the planned Year 8 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 27th April has been cancelled. Reports for that year group will be sent out at the usual time but if you would like to contact your child’s teacher for a specific reason, please email them using their school email address. If you are unsure of your child’s teacher’s email address then please send any queries to [email protected].

General Guidance for both Strike Days
On both strike days, students attending school must arrive at school at the usual time (no later than 8.35am) wearing their full school uniform. Café Mojo will be open at the normal break and lunch times.
Students not required to be in school will access a mixture of live lessons and other online learning resources that will mirror their usual timetable. The arrangements for this will be the same as the previous strike days. A reminder of how your child will access this online curriculum will be sent in a separate email.
Parents and carers of Looked After Children and students with EHCPs will be contacted directly by our Learning Support staff to share details of the provision for the two strike days.
Yours sincerely
