{gspeech}Dear Parents and Carers,
The school has received notification from the NEU trade union that its members propose to take industrial strike action on Wednesday 1st February. This action relates to a national dispute over pay.
Some staff within our school are members of this union and therefore the school will be affected by the industrial action.
We are currently in the process of gathering information and undertaking a risk assessment to evaluate whether we will be able to safely accommodate students in school on that day. We will endeavour to offer face-to-face learning for as many students as possible but I have to inform you that it is likely that some year groups will have to stay at home next Wednesday and complete online learning activities.
As guided by the DfE, we will prioritise children due to take public examinations and those classed as ‘vulnerable’ for places in school on the day of the strike. We will contact you again in the coming days when our plans are finalised and we are in a position to confirm which students can attend school.
Year 11 Public Exam – ICT Effective Digital Working Practices (Mr Carey’s 11A Group) – 9am Wednesday 1st February
Please note that this public examination will go ahead as planned on the strike day and all students due to take the exam will definitely be attending school.
Yours sincerely
J Cregg
