Dear Parents & Carers,
As you will probably be aware, the government yesterday updated its guidance on the wearing of face coverings in schools. The full guidance can be found via this link:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-in-education/face-coverings-in-education
Oldham is currently designated as an ‘Area of Intervention’ with extra layers of social restrictions in place. As a consequence, all secondary schools in Oldham will have to comply with the additional measures in the guidance, namely:
“…face coverings should be worn by adults and pupils when moving around, such as in corridors and communal areas where social distancing is difficult to maintain. As in the general approach, it will not usually be necessary to wear face coverings in the classroom, where protective measures already mean the risks are lower, and they may inhibit teaching and learning.”
Therefore, all students returning to school from Wednesday 2nd September onwards will be required to bring with them a face covering that they can wear when present in communal areas.
Further information, including advice and support from Oldham Council, will be communicated in the very near future.
