Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you and your families are all well and you looking forward to the summer break.
I am writing to you to inform you about some changes to the school day from September.
The school day will be as follows:
| 8.20am | School Opens to Students |
| 8.30 | Welcome and Wellbeing |
| 8.50 | Period 1 |
| 9.50 | Period 2 |
| 10.50 | Break |
| 11.10 | Period 3 |
| 12.10pm | Period 4 |
| 1.10 | Lunchtime |
| 2.00 | Period 5 |
| 3.00 | End of School Day – Start of Extra Curriculum Activities |
| 3.30 | Protected Learning |
School day – 6.5 Hours (32.5 Hours Per-Week)
You will notice that the school day has been extended by 15 minutes. Students will be expected to be in school at 8.30am rather than 8.35am, and the end of the school day moving to 3.00pm from 2.50pm.
Additionally, we will no longer be having a shortened Wednesday every other week. Every standard school day will be the same length consisting of five lessons.
There are two reasons for this change. Firstly, the government is now expecting that school provide a school week of 32.5 hours. Without making these changes the school will not be fulfilling this requirement. Secondly, as we are returning to a single lunchtime for all students, lunch will now be 50 minutes rather than 40.
