At The Radclyffe School, we love hearing about the hidden talents of our students. One lunchtime, we discovered that Azad in Year 10 has a real passion for wildlife photography. What started as simple walks in nature turned into a hobby that lets him capture the beauty of the wild.
“I loved going on walks and seeing different types of wildlife, and I figured I could take my camera on my walks. Then it started to become my hobby”, Azad says.
For Azad, the best part isn’t just taking photos—it’s being in the moment. “I enjoy just watching wildlife through my camera as it really lets me appreciate how beautiful the wild is.”
One of his proudest shots? A kingfisher in mid-flight. “I had been waiting for several hours and finally managed to capture it, which I was happy about. In my local park, there are only one or two of them flying about, and they are extremely fast.”
Of course, getting the perfect shot isn’t always easy. “Moving around too much or being loud can be a problem, so it’s best to just wait quietly and wait for the wildlife.”
Azad doesn’t mind whether his photography makes an impact, but he hopes others might be inspired to give it a go. “This is a fun hobby,” he says simply. His advice for beginners?
“Having expensive gear doesn’t mean you’re better. You can still get good shots with an affordable option. Don’t listen to the generalisation out there.”
We’re proud to share some of Azad’s stunning wildlife shots with the TRS community below. His patience and talent really shine through!
