A paper copy of the letter below will be handed to all students as they leave their exam this morning.
Dear Parent/Carer,
As you are aware, the main GCSE examinations for our Year 11 students began on Monday 16th May. Since that date students have experienced full days in school, attending their ‘regular’ timetabled lessons when they are not sitting an exam. In a number of subject areas, there are no further exam papers to take and during these lessons students have been completing general revision activities supervised by a member of staff.
We have taken the decision that from today onwards, students will only have to attend school in person when sitting an exam: outside of these times, students will prepare at home supported by ‘live’ online lessons in the subjects that still have exams scheduled for the remainder of May and June. Your child will be dismissed from school today (Wednesday) following the conclusion of English Literature exam, at approximately 11.00am.
All students have been issued with a GCSE examination timetable and should arrive at school at the following times for their exams: –
Morning Session – arrive no later than 8.45am (some subjects will offer revision sessions from 8.00am)
Afternoon Session – arrive no later than 12.45pm
I would like to remind you that all students must continue to wear full school uniform when attending school. If they do not, we reserve the right to refuse entry to the Examination Hall and parents/carers will be contacted and asked to bring uniform items to school. Students who are eligible for Free School Meals will be offered a ‘Grab Bag’ lunch on the days that they come into school.
You will receive an additional letter later today that provides a reminder of how your child can access live online lessons via the ‘Team Viewer Meeting’ application. Year 11 Teachers will continue to follow the school’s regular timetable when delivering these sessions and the online lessons will be available for all subjects that have examinations still remaining.
If your child does not currently have a laptop or other suitable device to access the online lessons, we are very happy to support you with by loaning your child a school laptop until the end of their GCSE exams. On the school website homepage (https://theradclyffeschool.co.uk), click the red “Click here to loan a laptop from school” button and follow the instructions on the page.
Your child should regularly check their school email for any updates and information provided by the school and / or their teachers.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that GCSE results are issued on Thursday 25th August and that the school will be hosting its usual Results Day celebration event, beginning at 9.00am on that day.
If you have any questions regarding these ongoing arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.
Yours faithfully,
Mr J Cregg
Headteacher
