Gardening design leads to London final
A visit to Buckingham Palace could be the reward for a team of talented designers who have won through to the final of a national design and technology competition.
The TeenTech engineering challenge invited the students to find their own issue that needed to be solved. After considering a number of ideas the team of Year 8 students looked at people without gardens and how they could be helped to grow plants with very limited space.
Their design for a stackable plant pot will now go on show at an event at the Royal Society in London at the end of June. In the meantime the team is hard at work creating their prototype which they will take with them to the capital.
Success at that event, where they will need to present their idea before a panel of experts would lead to a reception at Buckingham Palace, attended by Prince Andrew, who is a patron of the charity organising the competition.
