Students in Years 8 and 9 put their cooking skills to use as the school hosted a local heat of the national Rotary Club Young Chef competition.
Their challenge was to cook a three course meal, developing their skills in food presentation and gaining experience in high pressure situations.
A Rotary Club branch in Oldham organised the competition, which made use of the excellent kitchen facilities in our Design & Technology faculty. The contestants were soon busy grilling, basting and frying to come up with their mouth-watering creations.
The competition judges are always leading professionals, and for our contest travelled from the Marriott Hotel at Manchester Airport. The result of their decision making was that Hafsa Raja, Year 9, finished in third place, James Walsh, Year 8 was second, and our winner was Rowshon Chowdhury, Year 9.
James and Rowshon now go through to the next round and represent Chadderton and Failsworth Rotary Club in the district semi-finals
