Students take their place on borough body
Poll clerks and Presiding Officers were ready, ballot boxes checked, the ballot papers neatly stacked, and nervous candidates awaited the results.
The Oldham Youth Council election took place in school as the hall became a polling station for the day. Students across the school were entitled to vote and did so in large numbers. Candidates were contesting the Chadderton seat and five of our students had put themselves forward as candidates. Each prepared their own manifesto explaining the issues that would be their priority if elected.
We are delighted to report that all five students from The Radclyffe School were ‘duly elected to serve’. So many congratulations to Nahian Ahmed, Ayra Ali, Taiwo Alimi, Shaheer Qasim Sheikh and Sultan Ahmed.
Congratulations to the team of polling station staff who ably took on the task of running the election, ensuring that the event ran smoothly and that all who wanted to vote were allowed to. Well done to Ben, Sarah, Remi, Emily, Amina, Sunera, Isaac, Tamima, Sophie, Georgia and Ismail.
