About this event...
Monday 13th November @ 4.30pm - Simon Hunt
Target Audience: Primary
Simon is a Promethean advocate, a year 4 teacher and is also part of the computing team at Tottington Primary School. He has taught in Reception, Year 3 and Year 6 during his teaching career so far. He has regularly spoken at Teachmeets and at recent the Lead Learn Lancs 2017 conference. Simon loves using technology and Skype to bring the world to his students through which he has spoken to famous authors, experts and film stars. He wants to share how you too can connect your students with the rest of the world.
During the first part of the session, Simon will share how to create a simple, whole class, class poem. He will also share how the poem took a group of Bolton children all the way to EU Parliament (invited and paid for by an MEP), a film premier and subsequently names on an EU law! He will share how the same poem structure took him and his next class to 10 Downing Street (with the support of Pamela Anderson)…
In the second part, Simon will share an exciting and innovative way of teaching comprehension- Musicomprehension. As the name suggests, comprehension skills using music videos. He will demonstrate how to teach one of his lessons, as well as providing all attendees with the planning, comprehension questions and edited video, ready for you to teach in your school!
Video: Mr Hunt uses technology like never before - and his class love him for it.
