Could your child change how they travel to school?
A big thank you for your patience and consideration whilst the roadworks on Hunt Lane continue. Oldham Council have advised us that it is likely to be the end of July before the road reopens due to the complex work involved.
Have you made any changes to how your child travels to school whilst the road has been closed? Walking to school, cycling or travelling by public transport are all excellent options to consider.
Did you know we have spaces for over 100 bikes? These can be locked in the bike shelters close to the Student Entrance. A bike lock is required.
There are plenty of safe cycle lanes in the local area, including along Broadway and on Hunt Lane. Has your child taken a cycle proficiency test? Please ensure they have the skills to travel safely on the roads.
Especially on sunny days during the summer term, walking to and from school is always good exercise.
The school is also well served by bus routes. If your child has a place on the Yellow Bus Service Y71 and you wish this to continue from September, please ensure that you renew online at www.tfgm.com.
For other bus services students will need to obtain an igo pass in order to buy child’s tickets. The igo pass is also valid as identification for children travelling on the Metrolink network. The igo card costs just £10 and is valid until 31st August after your child’s 16th birthday. You can download an application form from the TfGM website or collect one from a TfGM Travelshop.
