Avoid Hunt Lane to save time and keep students safe
Major road works are underway on the length of Hunt Lane from the railway bridge as far as Broomes Park. Temporary traffic lights have been in place since late March, but the next phase of the project will require a road closure.
In discussions with Oldham Council we have been advised that the road will be closed between Monday 8th April and Friday 20th May. The far pavement from the school will still be available for people on foot, but access for vehicles and pedestrians to our Main Reception will not be possible.
At the beginning and end of the school day we expect there will be some severe congestion on Hunt Lane. To keep this to a minimum may we ask all parents who drop off or pick up their children by car to avoid Hunt Lane as far as possible. These simple steps should reduce inconvenience for you, as well as helping to keep all our students safe. Please allow your child to walk to school, to cycle or to use public transport.
If using the car is unavoidable, please park considerately a little further from Hunt Lane and allow your child to walk. Remind them, as we will, of the importance of crossing busy roads safely. For students who need to access the school site, for instance due to disability, please be aware of possible delays when planning your journey.
Thank you for your co-operation through this period. It will be greatly appreciated.
