The COVID Catch Up premium is additional funding given to schools to support our student’s educational recovery in line with the curriculum expectations. Schools are allocated funding on the basis of £80 per student. Schools have the flexibility to spend their funding in the best way for their cohort and circumstances.
To support schools to make the best use of the funding, the EEF has published a support guide:
https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/covid-19-resources/covid-19-support-guide-for-schools
A summary of their key areas of best practice are as follows:
Overall Strategy | Specific Strategies |
Teaching and whole school strategies |

Targeted approaches |

Wider strategies |

As with all government funding, school leaders and governors must be able to account for how the money is being used. Therefore, the impact and spending strategy for this catch-up premium will be reviewed throughout the 2021-22 academic year.
